FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much is my scrap car worth?
It depends on the vehicle's make, model, weight, condition, whether parts like the catalytic converter are present, and current scrap metal prices. Submit your details and our team will review them and give you a quote.
Can I scrap a car without an MOT?
Yes. A valid MOT is not needed to scrap a vehicle in the UK.
Do you collect non-running vehicles?
Collection of non-running vehicles can be arranged. Tell us whether it rolls and whether all wheels are fitted so we can plan the right recovery.
Is scrap car collection free?
Not always. Collection charges may apply depending on the vehicle and location. Any charge is confirmed with you before you book — there are no surprises.
What documents do I need?
Ideally the V5C logbook so the vehicle can be correctly reported to the DVLA, plus photo ID. If you don't have the V5C, tell us when you enquire.
How will I receive payment?
Under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, it is illegal to pay cash for scrap metal, including scrap cars. Payment is made by bank transfer or another traceable method.
What happens to my vehicle?
Vehicles are taken for disposal through the appropriate channels. Scrap vehicles must be treated at an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF), where fluids and hazardous parts are removed and materials recycled.
What is a Certificate of Destruction?
A Certificate of Destruction (CoD) is issued by an Authorised Treatment Facility when a vehicle is scrapped. It confirms the vehicle has been destroyed and that you are no longer responsible for it. The DVLA should also be told the vehicle has been scrapped.
